This masterpiece examines the dilemmas and choices that arise in the process of artistic creation. Jan Peszek has successfully presented this show for nearly 40 years.
Using the Japanese dance of Butoh and an adapted text, Yokko tells the story of Medea. This fusion of Western drama and Eastern dance takes the audience into the world Medea is drawn into, where love, hate, despair, and the struggle between her humanity and her inhumanity take hold.
An award-winning combination of mime, music, and monologue that takes us on the journey from boyhood to manhood, set against the backdrop of small town America. “Lost In Lvov” offers the audience a time capsule of intimate memories, secrets, and precious experiences of the three Belman sisters, who immigrate to America from the U.S.S.R. before and after Perestroika. These stories are interwoven with dance and music, when words can no longer express the full range of their emotions.
“Inside the Whale” is a bizarre and beautiful solo about the fantastical journey of a woman swallowed by a whale. “Talk to me about Shame” is a multimedia solo performance piece exploring the experience of shame. This play aims to create a physical and theoretical space in which the experience of shame can be demystified, defined, questioned, and mobilized in order to foster a sense of community. It seeks to entertain and empower.
The third season of United Solo Europe concludes with a solo on various shades of love by Anna Serafińska, a laureate of the Montreux Jazz Festival. The show serves to inspire peace, love, empathy, respect, and the cultivation of human fragilities.
